Ever since I was young, I've been captivated by food, the play of colours and aesthetics. In my hometown of Dresden, I was always drawn to confectioner's window displays, marvelling at their edible masterpieces. I knew then that I wanted to be the artist behind the scenes, crafting delicious cakes that transform moments into cherished memories.
My professional journey unfolded in Germany where I began as an apprentice and quickly ascended to junior federal state winner in 2004, laying the groundwork for a wide-reaching international career.
London was calling and led me into the fabulous world of cake decorating. During my tenure at Peggy Porschen Cakes, I began crafting exquisite wedding cakes for celebrities and prestigious events worldwide. Mastering the delicate art of sugar flower creation and royal icing piping work became my true passion. Working alongside Rosalind Miller, a renowned cake artist with a fine art background, enriched my technical skills further and inspired the floral arrangements I create today.
The relentless pursuit of perfection and excellence led me from completing a Master's Degree at Munich’s Konditoren Meisterschule in 2014 to a three-month sojourn on a teaching exchange in Tokyo and across Japan.
During my years in renowned fine dining establishments, I had the privilege of working alongside some of the best pastry chefs, training in both, classic and modern French patisserie. My time at Michelin-starred Sketch and Yauatcha laid the foundations for my subsequent role as pastry chef at the British Royal Household. Serving the late Queen, HM Elizabeth II, and her family was the crowning achievement of my London career.
A fresh start in Amsterdam followed after a sabbatical spent slow travelling through Europe with my partner. Arriving in September 2022, I joined Pillows Hotels to establish the pastry department at their premier 5-star establishment, the elegant 'Maurits at the Park' Grand Boutique Hotel Amsterdam. Once the successful department launch was completed, I embarked on my own venture by founding MG Cake.Design at the end of 2023.
I now channel over 20 years of experience into crafting exquisite cakes and confections, ensuring each creation becomes a treasured memory at your celebration.
